As most of you know I am quite actively unvolved in new technology and so I ask that you who wish to live "off line" (power lines that is) take the time to checkout http://www.steorn.com/ and their "Orbo" yes Orbo! technology. They will be releasing this equipment, by use of the net (possibly you tube) they won`t be selling it only licencing its development and production rights. This is hoped to take place over the weekend some time, if all goes well. In the past they have had some unfortunate incidents with bearings failing etc, now corrected, and previous attempts to demonstrate this have failed, somewhat, initially, tarnishing their credibility, however this Finnish registered Dublin based company is now nearing readiness to present again, successfully this time.
Over unity has very nearly arrived. so watch out for their release! this could be the biggest thing since the motor vehicle or the atom bomb with implicatons more far reaching that we can ever first imagine. Just think about the possibility of a "non polluting energy source" with unlimited power, capable of powering a mobile phone, car, BOAT, or even a power station? It has been said that "there is no shortage of energy out there, only grey matter!" might this really prove to be true? or have Steorn got it right this time? Put me down for one folks I`m off!!!!!!!!! :o))

Hi Tana! I have seen it working and it does exacrly that. the problems they initially had were based upon their placing it on exibition at the kinetics exhibition in london (not the right venue in my opinion) and the strong lighting and thus heat caused rhe beatings to sieze, they now have magnetic bearings I am reliably informed ( thus no/little friction) and so the problem no longer exists. I do hope they get it off the ground. Can you just imagine the power stations all working off magnetic energy, no pollution, no need to sink vast amounts of plutonium waste in the sea, or indeed ground? Wow! if I didn`t have a mechanical heart valve I`d be researching this area now :o)) mind you I might have a problem walking past a magnetically driven car, Yet! Tee Hee :o)) Hows life at the moment apart from cold I guess, all OK?
Still no announcement from Steorn? So I guess more problems? we do most definitely need to get away from the neuclear age in my opinion. maybe hydrogen? Maybe magnetics but please not neuclear until we can controll it and its waste production properly.
