How about this then!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/merseyside/7908446.stm No it wasn`t me "but,! there but for the grace etc" Mind you from the video it looks very much as if he is winding through a busy shopping area, which I guess is not the thing to do as pedestrians (myself included) are quite possesive of the footway and not keen on being charged at and missed by a couple of feet by skaters or cyclists. however I hope the appeal goes through and that he gets off but!!!!!!!!!!! that he has the errors of his ways pointed out too him and that more dracaonian legislation doesn`t get put in place to prevent responsible skaters following their "sport" in public areas, results.

Currently the UK Royal Parks are trying to prevent skating withing their boundaries and one case was dismissed recently on the basis that a sign on a pathway stating no rollerblading doesn`t represent the law ( as stated by the arresting officer) unless its use has been "authorised" by the secretary of state (which in this case it hadn`t) and thus was not law but merely a Byelaw @ :o(( Doh!!! Yea I don`t know the difference either. I have just down loaded some skating protocols from the UK skating association and it all seems prety sensible anyway.

He is quite sure on the skates and very much in control of his skating. Yes, he is going at a good clip but he knows what he is doing. It is a less able-bodied person you'd have to be careful of.

Still, it is because he's 71 that there is a fuss. If he was a 16 year old kid nobody would be in their favour I am sure.

I think, for the price of legal fees and fines the silly sod could go out and buy himself an IPOD or MP3 player.

Still, a little civil disobedience and something to fight about can't be an entirely bad thing.

I agree he is sure on his skates but so is a bee flying, I can appreciate those in the mall getting "Teed" off with his continual buzzing around though. Hi Tana! The Ipod is a great Idea I wish I knew how to use one :o)) He sounded like a nice gentle old fella and having worked with kids all his life I guess he would have to be. I am going to have to get my placard out and support his cause I guess, but I aint so nice
:o(( I hope his appeal goes in his favour, I would certainly chip in with his legal costs.
