I have sat here waiting for someone to write something on my blog (I dont care what just something) but other than the four comments I initally had last, Nothing, nada , so that now makes me realise that its about time I had something to say worth including here (but I dont really)
I will try though! I went to buy a couple of extra keys for the patio doors on my boat at(Timpsons) and was asked to pay £17 for two, as they were "special order" now I`m not tight but I could manufacture these keys from scrap brass in about ten minutes flat including the blank shape, and really couldn`t see where the cost came in. Soooooo! I walked into Brighton and visited the "Hardworking Cobbler" on the old stein opposite the new Franken "Stien" coffee house,You know the one Mmmmmm (it is an old converted underground toilets in the Stein park) and asked him if he could cut a couple for me he said the same they are special order and that the blanks will be here in an hour and the cost will be £5-00 :o)) Soooooo! Timpsons are making a £12 profit on cutting and supplying a pair of keys? I duly collected my keys , done well, and they both fitted perfectly (bet Timsons wouldn`t have done) .
At the weekend I decide that I needed to make the existing canvas and reinforcing trap door to my flybridge into a more permanent one in the form of 30 mm plastic which a good friend purchased for me from his trade supplier. With the use of a template, I duly cut the plastic to fit, hinged it on to the floor frame and closed it with a couple of thou to spare at the tight side! I pushed it open with the use of my head ( as I had tools in my hand) and was pleased to note that it opened well but, not unsupprisingly, didn`t stay open as the hand rail from the stairs needed a clip on which it can attach so as to stay open, Soooooo off I went to purchase "such a thing" but to no avail and over the next couple of days I left it alone and then decided to fit a gasket to stop any spray over the flybridge deck getting through around the trap. The day was really hot (one of the two this year, and in the fall too) I walked up the stairs and pushed the trap up with my head with no avail as the heat had expanded the plastic (now, when wrestling I could commit to a wrestlers bridge with a fifteen stone man on my chest so using my head and neck to open a small trap shouldn`t be a problem ) so I tried again, it was stuck, the trap had expanded and had nowhere to go as the handrail was tight against the hinged side and the closing side was profile cut around the Radar arch. so with much pushing and struggling I eventually got it open and accidently slammed it up against the handrail but in doing so I missed my footing on the stair and my hand placement on the top of the flap and CRUNCH the trap door came down with the rebound force and hit me on the head. :o)) ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
I woke up sitting on the floor of my deck area (having fallen unconciously down the stairs) with bells wringing in my head. I tried to stand (but in much the same way as the World goes around when you have had a ruptured eardrum and subsiquent horrid ear infection) I couldn`t. I sat for a short while and looked across the deck of the boat to see a mate of mine, peering in, asking me if I was "allright" to which I replied "don`t I look OK then?" and laughed, explaining that my door works OK now and that I have sorted where it was stuck, we laughed and slowly I got my balance back (the eyes are still crossed like Stan Stennit`s though, not really!). Sooo the trials of a boat owner Eh? I`m pleased with the fly bridge deck trap, it is so much better than the canvas and wooden reinforcing flap that was the existing. I still need a pair of nice stainless steel handles and a "pneumatic gismo" to take some of the weight off it when opening and closing though. Wow my head is sore!:o)) I have no idea how long I was "out" Tee hee!

He he he. I read this this morning whilst I was retaining my coffee and it made me start laughing so I had to close the window and think of England instead.
Funny story. Boats are great fun, even when things go wrong. Well, not massively wrong, like losing matts, but small wrongs. Owning a boat sure does enrich life, that's for shore.
Awww. I didn't realise you were all lonely over here. I only visit blogs when they are updated these days cos my link bar notifies me of such updates: just like yours had popped to the top of the list this morning, dwarfing the usual 'shitty weather alerts' that often has top place. Oh yah, and Fuffs, like you know, she just blogs sooo much recently.
;))
What you need, Orb, is to post more pics of your boat and your boat projects. It would have been nice to see what hit you on the head; maybe even a pic of you looking dazed would have been nice, too.
So there you have it. More pics, please.
Thanks Mmmm! I will try harder (the story of my life)
Yes. What overboard says. More pics please! And a bit bigger too. Those thumbnails are a bit wee.
Hope the noggin feels better soon.
Thanks Tana, good to hear from you, I will take the camera next time on the boat
!as a thought, don`t the thumnails increase in size if you double click on them ?
Why doublec-click when you can post them large to begin with?
;)
:o((
Sorry!
Cam on, Orb.
Get taking pics.
Got any foxes in the garden this year?
How about one of you weeding in your dressing gown?
Are flies on the endangered list cos this one buzzing around my face right now is testing my patience.
Flies are only in the red book if you shut it on them :o))
I don't mind clicking to enlarge, but I agree with the whole company that we need some interior shots! Did I miss her name somewhere? Looked like it may have been Slow Motion on one of the photos, but I'd like an official introduction :)
Do try to stay conscious, would you? All kidding aside, be careful!
Owwww. Yeah more pics please.... :)
